Artist Statement

Jenny Ellis-Newman is a retired university lecturer who started painting professionally fifteen years ago. Her preferred medium is acrylic but she also experiments with mixed media and a variety of styles and subjects. She loves to play with bright colours and in particular, those that are complementary, enjoying the brightness achieved by their juxtaposition. Her favourite subjects to paint are birds, abstracts, seascapes and underwater scenes. She regularly accepts commissions and her artworks have been purchased by and hung in public buildings and galleries in Western Australia. She has also sold to interstate and overseas collectors.
